Wild Wild West 4 - More Cowboys

My last Wild Wild West "Cowboys" post before Triad Toys "Wanted: Dead or Alive" 1/6 scale 12" Josh Randall Action Figure (reviewed in the previous post) was way back in 2007. It was a review on Sideshow Collectibles General George Armstrong Custer as well as Action Man 7th Cavalry and Action Joe US Sheriff (see my post HERE). Now let's see how Triad Toys Josh Randall (Steve McQueen) figure looks next to Sideshow Collectibles 1/6 scale 12" General George Armstrong Custer.

Sideshow Collectibles "Brotherhood of Arms" General George A Custer (American Civil War Custer) came with a highly authentic likeness to the real General Custer with fully detailed fabric cloth military uniform complete with wide-brimmed hat, Officer shoulder broads, velvet jacket and trousers, undershirt with star and red crevat, rank bars and Generals star, US Saber belt and framed eagle buckle. The General also has his binoculars and binocular case, boot spurs, light cavalry saber and scabbard and 51 Navy Colt pistol with leather gauntlet.

In the recent movie "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" (or simply "Night at the Museum 2"), Bill Hader gave a very comical take of General George Armstrong Custer which was quite hilarious. But it was Hank Azaria as Kahmunrah/The Thinker/Abraham Lincoln statue who stole the show for me. Amy Adams as aviator Amelia Earhart was most refreshing - the costume people really did a fine job on her!

Recently 12" figures have been getting taller. Triad Toys "Wanted: Dead or Alive" Josh Randall is taller than most 1/6 figures (as tall as the recent Brother Production 1/6 scale Blade Hunter a.k.a. Rick Deckard Blade Runner action figure - also very TALL and reviewed HERE) and that's why I had to pose him behind General Custer to get a better picture.

I grew up watching TV Westerns (Gunsmoke, The Lone Ranger, Have Gun Will Travel, Wild Wild West and Bonanza) and movies like The Magnificent Seven plus The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. George Lucas's Star Wars films use many elements of a Western - Han Solo was dressed like a gunslinger and the Mos Eisley Cantina is much like an Old West saloon.

My previous post already listed the parts and accessories that come with Triad Toys "Wanted: Dead or Alive" 1/6 scale 12" Josh Randall Action Figure. It is a pity that the very nicely done leather holster belt with working metal buckles and metal bullets for his "Mare's Leg" (a sawed-off .40 gauge Winchester rifle) are covered by his fully lined Lambswool Jacket. The 1/6 Jacket cannot be worn open because the snap buttons which are used to keep the jacket closed will be exposed and look totally OFF in terms of scale.

I really dig the fully functioning rotating spurs on the cowboy boots of Triad Toys "Wanted: Dead or Alive" Josh Randall.

Now let's find them some 1/6 horses - any donors?

This Custer is nice, I'll be looking for one of these to add to my collection.

Thanks
