Dragon 1/6 US Army Delta Force Snatch Team Leader

When the film "Black Hawk Down (2001)" by Ridley Scott (based on the book "Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War" by Mark Bowden) was screened at the cinemas, Dragon released two military action figures to tie-in with the movie. This was one of them.

This is the Dragon 1/6 scale 12-inch US Army Delta Force Snatch Team Leader "Jeff" of Task Force Ranger, Mogadishu, Somalia 3-4 Oct 1993 which was released in 2001. The Battle of Mogadishu was part of the US military's 1993 campaign to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. Delta Force operator "Jeff" was played by William Fichtner (actually Sergeant First Class Jeff Sanderson, based on Paul Howe). He was equipped with a Pro-tech helmet, tactical goggles, walkie talkie with throat mic & ear piece, desert BDUs (the new Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU) which was officially issued in 1993, unofficially nicknamed the “Coffee Stain” pattern. This remained in service for over a decade, most notably during the 2003 invasion of Iraq), body armor, assault vest, web belt with M16 ammo pouches, two M67 fragmentation grenades, M9 .45 ACP in drop-down holster, water bottle with pouch, LC-2 first-aid kit, M4 assault rifle, M14 rifle with sniper’s scope, knee pads, and combat boots.

Not much resemblance to William Fichtner. A better head sculpt of him was released later with pictures posted HERE.

I had covered in greater detail the "Battle of Mogadishu (1993)" as depicted in the film "Black Hawk Down (2001)" in an earlier post HERE

There's also a post on the 1/6 AH-6 Little Bird attack helicopter HERE

In a previous post, I'd reviewed Dragon's Commemorative Edition 1/6 scale 12" Gary Gordon, Sniper Team Leader Delta Force - Task Force Ranger; as well as Dragon 10th Anniversary Commemorative Edition 1/6 scale 12-inch "Danny McKnight" military figure, commanding officer of the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment HERE.

Next: Dragon 1/6 Staff Sergeant "Matt" from the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.
