ThreeA Tomorrow Kings 1/6 Lost Star Warrior TK CLEAN Sargent and other 12-inch Stormtroopers

Here's an interesting take on one of my favorite subject matter by ThreeA. ThreeA presents their Tomorrow Kings - Lost Star Warrior TK CLEAN Sargent, Lost Star Warrior TK DIRTY Sargent, Lost Star Warrior TK CLEAN NOIR Sargent and Lost Star Warrior TK DIRTY NOIR Sargent. They all look suspiciously familiar because of the helmets they wear as the particular helmet in question has become quite the iconic symbol indeed!

According to threeAwiki: Tomorrow Kings are male clones, from the Popbot Universe who were created by Luthor Bean Jr. originally used for corporate takeovers. In the ThreeA Popbot Universe, I haven't seen these Lost Star Warriors until now and I think they look pretty CoOL.

It seems there are at least four different types of Lost Star Warriors: TK CLEAN Sargent, TK DIRTY Sargent, TK CLEAN NOIR Sargent and TK DIRTY NOIR Sargent. Basically, one looks fresh out of the box and the other looks like it has been played with many times over and is now very much weathered and dirtied. A dirty warrior is easier to maintain because even if it gets dirtier, you couldn't really tell but a clean warrior needs to be well taken care of as stains and spots will show up most easily. When it comes to displaying them, where would you put them? Do they go with the Star Wars display or the ThreeA Popbot Universe?

Mystical Forge to release Valley of the kings Anubis 1/6th collectible figure with sarcophagus

Anubis (Ancient Greek: Ἄνουβις) is the Greek name of a jackal-headed god associated with mummification and the afterlife in ancient Egyptian religion. Like many ancient Egyptian deities, Anubis assumed different roles in various contexts. One of his prominent roles was as a god who ushered souls into the afterlife. Anubis was depicted in black, a color that symbolized both rebirth and the discoloration of the corpse after embalming. Anubis is associated with Wepwawet (also called Upuaut), another Egyptian god portrayed with a dog's head or in canine form, but with grey or white fur. Historians assume that the two figures were eventually combined.

Mystical Forge has announced the first figure from their Valley of the kings series, Anubis. Only 500 pieces will be produced worldwide, exclusively available to North America and Europe.

Is POP TOYS GF01 1/6th Girl Clan series - Ranger Revision Sweet Pea from Sucker Punch?

Sucker Punch is a 2011 American fantasy action film directed by Zack Snyder and co-written by him and Steve Shibuya. The film stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung and Carla Gugino. The storyline follows the fantasies of a young woman who is committed to a mental institution, as she makes a plan to escape the hospital before undergoing a lobotomy.

Abbie Cornish plays Sweet Pea, sister of Rocket (Jena Malone), and together with Babydoll (Emily Browning), they decide to plan an escape. She is joined by Amber (Jamie Chung) and Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens). Together, the five of them embark on adventures dreamed up by Babydoll.

POP TOYS 1/6th scale GF01 Girl Clan series - Ranger Revision certainly looks to be inspired by Abbie Cornish's Sweet Pea character from Sucker Punch. According to Pop Toys: This section is the first character of Girl Clan. In the future, we will introduce more people to rich this series. This series will be formed by different roles and identities of characters. We will combine some ancient warrior elements with modern weapons, while referring to some popular movie character modeling and make changes, which help us create this character modeling.

Preview ace new product: Operation Delaware 1968 – 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) - superb!

Operation Delaware was a joint military operation launched during the Vietnam War. It began on Friday, April 19, 1968, with troops from the United States and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) moving into the A Shau Valley. The A Shau Valley was a vital corridor for moving vast amounts of supplies coming from the Ho Chi Minh Trail and was used by the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) as a staging area for numerous attacks in northern I Corps.

The 1st Cavalry Division is one of the most decorated combat divisions of the United States Army, as well as the other four branches of the U.S. military. It was formed in 1921 and served during World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War, with the Stabilization Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in the Iraq War, and in the War in Afghanistan (2001–present).

By the time the 1st Cavalry Division fought in the Vietnam War, it was no longer a conventional infantry unit. The division had become an air assault division as the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), commonly referred to as the 1st Air Cavalry Division. The use of helicopters on such large scale as troop carriers, cargo lift ships, medevacs, and as aerial rocket artillery, was never before implemented, but by doing so it freed the infantry from the tyranny of terrain to attack the enemy at the time and place of their choosing.

This is ace new upcoming offering: Operation Delaware 1968 – 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) 12-inch military figure and it is superb! Everything on this figure is outstanding and the photos that ace has posted makes the figure look so real. I haven't been getting Vietnam era military figures for a while but this might be my next purchase. ace Operation Delaware 1968 – 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) 12-inch military figure really blows the mind!

Review Kaustic Plastik XXL Set 2 – 1/6th Arena Fighter Outfit Set aka Russell Crowe's Gladiator!

continued from previous post...

"Are You Not Entertained?!"

This Kaustic Plastik XXL Set 2 – 1/6th scale The Arena Fighter Outfit Set was part of my second haul for April 2015 (see my toy blog post HERE), as was the Kaustic Plastik KP04 Generation K Muscle Body which I have just reviewed in the previous post HERE. Now let's see how the two look together.

If the resulting image of KP04 and XXL2 combined together look very familiar, it's probably because this set was inspired by the character that Russell Crowe plays in the 2000 British-American epic historical drama film "Gladiator". As loyal Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, Crowe is betrayed when the emperor Marcus Aurelius's ambitious son, Commodus, murders his father and seizes the throne. Reduced to slavery, Maximus rises through the ranks of the gladiatorial arena to avenge the murder of his family and his emperor. Hence this set is called the Arena Fighter outfit set and it is designed to go together with Kaustic Plastik KP04 Generation K Muscle Body which comes with a 1:6 scale head sculpt that bears a striking resemblance to Russell Crowe as he appeared in "Gladiator". For me, that was his best film ever!

This is 12-inch Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius the gladiator who goes on to organize his team of gladiators to fight winning battles in the Arena. To see a 1:6 scale Russell Crowe as Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, check out my earlier toy blog post HERE of the ACI Toys 2012 Anniversary Product - 1/6 scale Warriors III Roman General 12-inch figure (limited to 1500 pieces). Now on with the show / review of the Kaustic Plastik XXL Set 2 – 1/6th scale The Arena Fighter Outfit Set.

Review: Kaustic Plastik KP04 1:6 scale Generation K 12-inch Muscle Body is awesome!

This is a review of the Kaustic Plastik KP04 Generation K Muscle Body which I received as part of my April 2015 haul posted earlier HERE. There will be three versions of the KP04 and this is supposed to be "KP04A - Caucasian (Suggested for XXL set 2)". There's going to be "KP04B - Caucasian" and "KP04C - Afro American".

According to the manufacturer Kaustic Plastik, this body is designed and built with high production technologies. Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale Generation K Muscular Body Features: Soft Rubber Torso with internal mechanisms (3D Cad designed internal mechanisms), Two Sets of Arms, 30+ Points of Articulation, Extraordinarily lifelike muscle definition, and 8 posing hands. The head sculpt on this "KP04A - Caucasian" Generation K Muscle Body bears a strong resemblance to actor Russell Crowe, who played the role of loyal Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius in the 2000 American-British epic historical drama film "Gladiator" directed by Ridley Scott. In the film, Maximus Decimus Meridius is betrayed when Commodus, the ambitious son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, murders his father and seizes the throne. Reduced to slavery, Maximus rises through the ranks of the gladiatorial arena to avenge the murders of his family and his emperor.

I have reviewed other Kaustic Plastik 12-inch figure bodies in the past, most recent being the Kaustic Plastik KP02XXL Heroik Muscle Body XXL Limited Edition 12-inch figure body (posted on my toy blog HERE). Before that, there was the Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale Athletik Muscle Body KP03B Caucasian version reviewed HERE and HERE as well as the review of Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale Athletik Muscle Body KP03C Afro (African) American version posted HERE. Let's see how this latest 12-inch figure released by Kaustic Plastik fares.

April 2015 2nd haul: 1/6 Russell Crowe + Arena Fighter outfit, Tom Cruise & Gingerbread Man

Look what just came in the mail... or rather, what the DHL guy brought me on Saturday :) I received the Kaustic Plastik KP04-A 1/6th scale Generation K 12-inch Muscular Body and the Kaustic Plastik XXL Set 2 – 1/6th scale The Arena Fighter Outfit Set (these two definitely have to go together!). This two items plus the Medicom Toy RAH (Real Action Heroes) 1/6th scale "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" Ethan Hunt Collectible Figure and 6-inch Dissected Gingerbread Man ABS Art Collectible by Jason Freeny and Mighty Jaxx which I got during the week rounds off my second haul of April 2015 - You can see what I got for my first haul of April 2015 in my earlier toy blog post HERE

I realized that when I still get excited about these things, it only shows that my passion for them has not waned, even after more than 20 years. I've been collecting toys (then upgraded to adult collectibles) since 1994 and I have been blogging about toys and action figures, and sharing my passion for them on the internet since July 2007. Sure, prices have been going up and up, and it's getting tougher to have the things you want but every time I do get something, there's still the thrill and satisfaction. Which begs the question: "Why do adults collect toys?" The answers can be found in my blog post of October 2014 titled "Why do adults collect toys? Also a BIG thank you for the more than 15,000,000 (15 million) page views so far" posted HERE

Kotobukiya Marvel Comics 1/6 scale Rogue - Danger Room Sessions - 12-inch Fine Art Statue

Kotobukiya’s amazing X-Men Danger Room Sessions Fine Art Statue series cannot be stopped! We’ve seen a variety of mutant heroes and even some reformed villains battling the holographic dangers in the X-Men training facility, and the latest fan-favorite character to enter the combat training facility is one of the most powerful mutants in existence, Rogue!

Born Anna Marie in Mississippi, the young girl’s mutant powers first manifested during a kiss with her childhood boyfriend. Suddenly she found herself absorbing his life energy, and subsequently ran away, taking the nickname Rogue in the process. When touching a mutant, she absorbs powers in addition to memories and skills, making her incredibly powerful and incredibly dangerous. During her early career she battled the current Ms. Marvel and seemingly absorbed her flight and super strength permanently.

A stalwart defender of X-Men and anyone in need of protection, Rogue embodies both power and beauty. The spirited mutant is captured in a great action pose, poised over the hand of a defeated Sentinel as she looks for the next threat. Flying over the wreckage, Rogue carries a piece of the trashed robot to use as a weapon (and a warning) to other foes. The mutant hero’s classic costume is beautifully recreated, with the bright green and yellow of the bodysuit standing out within her dark brown jacket. Always enthusiastic in the heat of battle, Rogue’s face is perfectly sculpted to show off her fighting spirit. As an added bonus you can display the X-Woman in either of two of her most popular looks from the comics with alternate portrait heads!

Comparison pictures of different 1:6 Star Wars Stormtroopers by Hot Toys, Sideshow, Medicom

continued from previous post...

After reviewing the Hot Toys MMS267 "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" 1/6th scale Stormtrooper 12-inch Collectible Figure on my toy blog earlier HERE and HERE, the next thing I wanted to do was compare this Hot Toys Stormtrooper with the other 1:6 scale Stormtroopers that have been released by the other companies, namely Sideshow Collectibles, Medicom Toys and Marmit. Hot Toys gave the Star Wars Stormtrooper something the other companies never did, and that's the SE-14r blaster pistol which is covered in my post HERE. That's probably because the SE-14r is only seen in publicity photos for "Star Wars: A New Hope" and not actually seen in any of the films.

What we are all familiar with and used to seeing are Stormtroopers with their BlasTech E-11 blaster rifles. The Stormtrooper Blaster, E-11 BlasTech Standard Imperial weapon of choice, is actually a souped up Sterling L2A1 with foldable stock. The Sterling submachine gun was trialled with the British Army in 1944–1945 as a replacement for the Sten, but it did not start to replace it until 1953. It remained in use until 1994, when it was phased out with the introduction of the L85A1 assault rifle. Ironic that such an old weapon would be re-imagined as a high tech sci-fi rifle.

But then again, Star Wars was produced before CGI was even invented so most props had to be made from something else that existed and many of the weapons produced in the films were visually modified or based upon real-world weapons. This was also partly because Star Wars creator George Lucas was determined that the universe he envisioned would have a "lived-in" look to it. So while the Sandtroopers did get the weathered, worn and dirty / dusty look, the Stormtroopers got to keep their white pristine shiny armor intact, always looking like they just came out of the factory. Actually, they were that clean but the whiteness of the armor was too overwhelming.

Check out Phicen (PL2015-77) 1/6th scale Z-Girl 12-inch female action figure – Zombies are IN!

Warrior. Hero. Zombie.

Discovered in the Mongolian desert in the 3rd century BC by the father of Taoism, Lao Tzu, Z-Girl is a highly functioning zombie with both a consciousness and a conscience.

A fierce warrior, for several centuries she has led the four Tigers, human hosts of ancient Chinese warrior spirits, into battle against monsters and demons that threaten to wipe out humanity. While Tigers have died over the centuries and their spirits gone to inhabit new hosts, Z-Girl has survived and endured. The tattoos on her shoulders are shared with her teammates, allowing them to find each other through Tao and reunite after they have been separated.

Regenerative mists and herbs found at the peak of China’s Mount Huashan enable Z-Girl to keep her innate zombie hunger for flesh at bay, but the effect is only temporary. Though she has willingly put herself in harm’s way many times in order to protect humanity, she knows that deep down, she is still a zombie and until the end of her days must always be on guard against her urges.

Z-Girl is humanity’s last hope against extinction.

Worldbox VT003 1/6th Durable Body - narrow shoulder, good posture most ideal for kitbashing

There is a distinction between 1:6 scale collectors who choose to simply display their figures in the original box, and playscale miniaturists. Playscale Miniaturism, a.ka. 1:6 scale modeling, is a hobby focusing on the collecting and / or customization of commercially produced 1:6 scale action figures and accessories. Consistent with other forms of miniaturism, many enthusiasts make their own custom uniforms, weapons, helmets, and equipment. Kitbashing is another component of playscale miniaturism. This involves the mixing and matching of clothing and accessories from different sources to achieve the desired look.

1:6 scale is fairly new to the modeling world, having been standardized in the early 1960s through Barbie and G.I. Joe toys (it is not clear exactly when these figures were first used for mainstream modeling purposes). Playscale miniaturism (with emphasis on articulated figures) emerged as a hobby in 1964 when the toy company Hasbro introduced the first fully articulated action figure: G.I. Joe. Unfortunately, by 1976, GI Joe was no longer produced in 1:6 scale although the U.K. equivalent, Action Man, continued on for much longer. In the early 1990s Hasbro began reproducing G.I. Joe in 1:6 scale again as a Classic Collection marketed towards adults. The shift in focus towards collectibility rather than marketing the figures as a toy invited competition, and soon other companies began to market detailed 1:6 figures toward adult consumers.

And that is where we are today :) The 1:6 scale collectible market is alive and strong, and growing too judging by the number of new entrants into the market, although most of the numbers are made up of Hot Toys collectors who seem to choose to simply display their figures in the original box - see my recent toy blog post "Hot Toys Collector or Hot Toys Box Collector? Age-old question: To open / not to open the toy!" HERE

This upcoming Worldbox VT003 1/6th Durable Body - narrow shoulder, good posture seems most ideal for kitbashing. You don't need a 12-inch figure body if you only collect Hot Toys figures because they all come with a body already. But if you are into 1:6 scale kitbashing or customization, then a good 12-inch figure body is one of the required items on the list. Worldbox VT003 1/6th Durable Body set specially features: Newly developed narrow shoulder body, good posture! Body is approximately 30 cm tall with two pairs of interchangeable arm including: One pair of seamless arm joints, may be bent 90 degrees; One pair of non-seamless arm joints. Body is suitable for 1/6th scale fabric costume and accessories. Accessory: Figure display stand

Hot Toys MMS267 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6 Stormtrooper 12-inch Figure Review II

continued from previous post...

"It's them! Blast them!"

IMHO The Stormtrooper is so beautiful in its design, for lack of a better word. The Star Wars Stormtrooper and its design has certainly withstood the sands of time and its classic look never becomes outdated. The moment they stepped onto the giant screen, everyone was sold though many might not readily admit it haha. Is it wrong to be secretly rooting for the bad guys with their all white glorious armor as they battle the rebel troops dressed in uniforms made out of mainly fabric which offered little protection against these elite Imperial shock troops? The fact that the design is also used consistently with some alterations for the other Imperial forces gives it even more recognition and the impression that this is a huge army with many differed professions all loyal to and in support of the Emperor and the Galactic Empire. Makes you think twice about messing with them. That is, until they open fire LOL Then you realize that they can't see well out of their helmets and they can't shoot straight to save their lives. Otherwise, our heroes would have been long dead when they were trapped in the Death Star. Nevertheless, let's not take away the pure awesomeness that is these Imperial Stormtroopers.

Hot Toys has done a great job in replicating the Stormtroopers into 1/6th scale articulated models, from the helmet to the body armor worn over black body glove. None of the figure's articulation is adversely affected by the nice-and-tight armor and this 12-inch Stormtrooper can certainly hold some nice poses without keeling over, which was a major problem with the Sideshow Collectibles Stormtrooper, released in 2009 and reviewed on my toy blog HERE and HERE. Hot Toys also released the MMS268 "Star Wars: Episode IV" 1/6th scale Stormtroopers Collectible Figures Set of 2 (previewed HERE) featuring bodies with two different heights just like how these non-clone soldiers appear in the film.  This single trooper set is the taller of the two and rightly so as I would rather get two of these than to have one tall and one short trooper. After all, these are not Han and Luke masquerading as Stormtroopers to rescue Princess Leia. I prefer my Stormtroopers to be of the same height if I can help it. They look much better when they are of the same height and size. Height difference will not matter if you have an entire army of troopers but when there are only a couple, height matters a great deal, to me anyway.

In the first part review on my toy blog where I covered the box packaging and its contents, I also posted pictures of this Hot Toys 12-inch Stormtrooper figure with his SE-14r blaster pistol which was only seen in publicity photos for "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" and not actually seen in any of the films. In this second part review, I've posted photos of Hot Toys Stormtrooper with the BlasTech E-11 blaster rifle which is the standard issue weapon of the Stormtrooper Corps and one of the most commonly issued rifles in the Imperial Military.

Review 1: Hot Toys MMS267 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6 Stormtrooper 12-inch Figure

From "Men in Black" (see my previous toy blog post HERE) to troopers clad in all white armor!

This is the recently released Hot Toys MMS267 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6th scale Stormtrooper 12-inch Collectible Figure (part of my April 2015 haul posted HERE)

Stormtroopers are the elite shock troops of the Galactic Empire. They wear imposing white armor, which offers a wide range of survival equipment and temperature controls to allow the soldiers to survive in almost any environment. Stormtroopers wield blaster rifles and pistols, and attack in hordes to overwhelm their enemies. Along with standard Stormtroopers, the Empire has organized several specialized units, including snow-troopers and scout troopers.

Needless to say, the Stormtroopers are one of the most iconic images of the Star Wars saga and I've liked them the moment I saw them appear on the big screen in May 1977. In 1977, it was just called "Star Wars" (no sequel or prequel was even planned then as nobody knew what the response to the film would be like) and when the movie opened with a space battle between two starships in orbit around the desert planet of Tatooine, mouths were left wide open gaping in awe and everyone was just wondering when the mammoth Imperial star destroyer, the Devastator, would stop filling up the screen. Then the small Rebel blockade runner, the Tantive IV, was boarded by stormtroopers from the Empire's 501st Legion.

The design of these Star Wars Imperial Stormtroopers have remained timeless. They never look outdated and anytime you take a look at them, they always remain relevant. The simple yet elegant white armor, the ominous and anonymous helmet / mask have captured all our imagination and they will always look cool as soldiers from a galaxy far far away, never mind that they seem to miss their targets every time they open fire.

There have been quite a number of 1:6 scale Imperial Stormtroopers released over the years – see the links below this post (and I don't count the Hasbro released FAT troopers as one of these) – and this latest 12-inch Stormtrooper figure by Hot Toys certainly deserves some attention.

Check out 303Toys No.: 35003 1/6th scale Qin Soldier with sword (China Qin Dynasty soldiers)

continued from previous post...

This is one of three China Qin Dynasty soldiers 303Toys will be releasing soon. 303Toys No.: 35003 1/6th scale Qin Soldier 12-inch figure with sword (China Qin Dynasty soldiers) will come with 1/6th scale Head sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Clothes, Pants, Scarf, Shoes, Leg cloth, Armor, Helmet, Sword, Arrow x 3, Arrow basket / Quiver, Hands x 5, Action figure stand.

I'm pretty sure the 1/6th scale head sculpt is of someone famous in Hong Kong, most likely an actor but I just can't seem to place a name to the face. This is the only figure of the three previewed to have a helmet over his head. He also has a sword and seem to carry extra arrows for the crossbow archer previewed earlier.

Preview 303 Toys No.: 35002 1/6th scale Qin Soldiers Crossbow (China Qin Dynasty soldiers)

continued from previous post...

This is one of three China Qin Dynasty soldiers 303Toys will be releasing soon. 303Toys No.: 35002 1/6th scale Qin Soldier 12-inch figure with Crossbow (China Qin Dynasty soldiers) will come with 1/6th scale Head sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Clothes, Pants, Scarf, Shoes, Leg cloth, Armor, Crossbow, Arrow x 2, Hands x 4, Action figure stand.

The 1/6th scale head sculpt does bear some resemblance to Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen. A crossbow is a type of weapon, based on the bow, consisting of a horizontal bow-like assembly mounted on a stock, that shoots projectiles called bolts or quarrels. Historically, crossbows played a significant role in the warfare of East Asia, Europe and the Mediterranean. The invention of the crossbow in ancient China caused a major shift in the role of projectile weaponry. The crossbow was the first projectile weapon to be simple, cheap and physically-undemanding enough to be operated by large numbers of conscript soldiers, thus enabling virtually any nation to field a potent force of ranged crossbowmen with little expense beyond the cost of the weapons themselves.

303Toys No.:35001 1/6th scale Qin Soldier 12" figure with Spetum (China Qin Dynasty soldiers)

This is one of three China Qin Dynasty soldiers 303Toys will be releasing soon. 303Toys No.: 35001 1/6th scale Qin Soldier 12-inch figure with Spetum (China Qin Dynasty soldiers) will come with 1/6th scale Head sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Clothes, Pants, Scarf, Shoes, Leg cloth, Armor, Spectum, Shield, Hands x 4, Action figure stand.

The 1/6th scale head sculpt does bear some resemblance to Hong Kong actor Andy Lau. A spetum was a pole weapon used in ancient battles. The design of a spetum is very efficient for combat. The main blade is long enough to destroy any significant organ in the human body with one quick thrust. The blunt backs of the side blades make the spetum extremely useful for a variety of uses such as tripping and knocking aside shields, but more importantly they provide far more strength to the sharpened side and points than is possible with any dual-edged construction.

Review II: 1:6 scale Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) Jameson Deathridge Figure

continued from previous post...

I had posted pictures of the box content and all the 1:6 scale accessories, gear and weapons that came with this recently released USA exclusive (production run of only 600 pieces, not sold outside the U.S.) Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) 1:6th scale Jameson YoungBlood Deathridge 12-inch Action Figure by E&S (Easy and Simple) in the first part review on my toy blog HERE so now it's time to see how he looks in some action poses.

Z.E.R.T. is an organization that uses “Zombie” as a metaphor for any natural or man-made disasters that will occur in our lives; Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, criminal attacks or any type of situation where being prepared, trained and most importantly, armed with the proper mindset is required to see you and your family through to safety. Z.E.R.T. was officially launched in Las Vegas, November 2011 and now has 10000+ members in 35 different countries! Over 600 of these members are located in Las Vegas Nevada USA.

This 12-inch figure is based off the fictional Z.E.R.T. comic book character. I had a lot of fun putting this guy together. That's the difference between 1:6 scale military collectors and a lot of Hot Toys collectors. I started out on this hobby (1:6 scale modeling a.k.a. Playscale Miniaturism) by collecting 12-inch military figures which meant taking the basic figure out of the box and putting on all his kit and gear. So did Hot Toys founder Howard Chan before he started the company. Hot Toys first foray into the 1:6 scale market was producing and releasing 12-inch military figures (they were releasing uniform sets even before that) and the first Hot Toys 12-inch figure ever released in 2000 was the 1/6th scale F-14 Tomcat aviator / pilot action figure "Jack Carter" who was a dead ringer for a 1:6 scale Tom Cruise as LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell from the 1986 movie "Top Gun" – Check out my post HERE

Since then, Hot Toys has gone into the movie merchandising business and a lot of people have seen their products, fell in love with them or got poisoned by them depending on how you look at it and given up all their hard earned money for Hot Toys products. Many are hard core Hot Toys collectors but have never tried their hand at 12-inch military figures. 12-inch military figures require quite a bit of assembling and part of the fun is to gear up the figure and put on all his stuff as if you would in real life to yourself because that is what a real operator does. The challenge is assembling all the small tiny parts and trying your utmost best not to break anything in the process. A lot of Hot Toys collectors, on the other hand, simply remove the figure from the box and displays said figure. Any complex assembling has to be already done at the factory and delivered to the Hot Toys collector as a complete product as most of them have never put anything together on a figure before in their lives and probably wouldn't be able to do it if asked to.

The advantage of collecting 12-inch military figures is that when you get to examine and gear up the figure yourself, you get to appreciate all the finer details of the 1:6 scale gear, weapons and accessories, and the kind of load a soldier has to carry into battle, and all the advancements in technology he has at his disposal to give him the upper hand, in the case of the better equipped modern warrior. Case-in-point, this Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) 1:6th scale Jameson YoungBlood Deathridge 12-inch Action Figure.

Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) 1:6 Jameson Deathridge 12" Figure - Review 1

From warriors of a bygone era (see previous post) to a modern warrior of the current age. This is the recently released USA exclusive Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) 1:6th scale Jameson YoungBlood Deathridge 12-inch Action Figure by E&S (Easy and Simple) which has a production run of only 600 pieces and wasn't sold outside the U.S. I was quite happy to score this figure (this was part of my February haul - posted HERE) but I only got to unboxing it recently. You can check out the reviews on my toy blog in this post and the NEXT.

This guy doesn't actually exist. This 12-inch figure is based off the fictional Z.E.R.T. comic book character. In the comic book series, Jameson YoungBlood Deathridge is a retired Force Recon Marine, now working Proliferation Operations for the C.I.A. He is chasing signs of a terrible plague sweeping across the Middle East. Deathridge’s American Special Operations team fights to contain the evil before it spreads.

Sounds familiar? A bit like Brad Pitt's character in the 2013 American disaster zombie film "World War Z" directed by Marc Forster. The film stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who must travel the world to find a way to stop a zombie pandemic. The same company, E&S also released a 1:6 scale Zombie Survivor set based on Gerry. You can check out my reviews HERE and HERE. While the figure is fictional, the gear and equipment he has on him are all real and accounted for in 1:1 scale. There's even a Z.E.R.T. web page and organization. Z.E.R.T.’s Cadre is made up of Special Forces Instructors who use their vast knowledge and ‘real world’ experience to teach civilian members. Z.E.R.T.’s Cadre has also trained over 100 state and federal officers in 4 states.

For my first-part review of this E&S 1:6 scale Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) Jameson YoungBlood Deathridge 12-inch action figure, I have posted 35 pictures... with more to come. What can I say? This figure deserves all the attention. Enjoy :)

Early April 2015 Haul: "X-Men: Days of Future Past" Wolverine & Star Wars 12" Stormtrooper

Picked up these two 12-inch figures for April 2015: Hot Toys MMS264 "X-Men: Days of Future Past" 1/6th scale Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) Collectible Figure and Hot Toys MMS267 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6th scale Stormtrooper Collectible Figure.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 superhero film based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. Directed by Bryan Singer, it is the seventh installment of the X-Men film series and acts as a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class. The story, inspired by the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" produced by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, focuses on two time periods and Wolverine going to 1973 to save the future of mankind. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart.

So how is it that Hot Toys only produced and released a 1:6 scale Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) figure? What about the rest of the X-Men? Sometime back in 2012, Hot Toys had previewed the 1:6 scale James McAvoy as Charles Xavier / Professor X collectible figure from X-Men: First Class at their exhibitions (you can see the pictures HERE) but it was subsequently cancelled. Looks like there won't be any other mutant being made in 1:6 scale except Wolverine. Hot Toys also only released a 1:6 scale Wolverine from X-Men: The Last Stand - see my toy blog post HERE of the Hot Toys MMS187 "X-Men: The Last Stand" 1/6 scale Wolverine Limited Edition 12-inch Figure.

This Hot Toys MMS267 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6th scale Stormtrooper Collectible Figure will be my very first Hot Toys Star Wars 12-inch figure. News that Hot Toys will also be releasing Star Wars figures brought out mixed feelings for me. Sideshow Collectibles hasn't done too bad a job especially with their armored trooper figures. They have also been improving greatly on their head sculpts and Hot Toys' steadily rising prices has not done them any good as far as I am concerned. Still it has been a while since we have seen a good and solid 12-inch Stormtrooper figure so I had to see how Hot Toys Stormtrooper fare.
